The Legacy House is partly ready for display

Please keep in mind this house is no where near done but it's still coming along beautifully and I only have a few shots of it:

The usual exterior shot (edit-old pic put in the right one):

Outside view of the balcony:

From the inside, looking out to the balcony from the second floor:

The bedrooms for the twins (Dru & Keely, respectively):

Everything else will be updated once the twins graduate from Truth University...oh yeah, forgot to tell you they left for University, along with Jace and boy did they do a switch-a-roo in personality. Dru has become ever so studious, picking a major in Literature (not even certain if I spelt that correctly). And now that she and Jace are in the same dorm, they don't seem to spend as much time doing PDA activities as they used to.

Keely on the other hand caught up with some of the guys that she had been talking to online that went to Truth University. She was quite please when she saw them face to face. They were much better looking than what she had imagined:

Davnus decided to quickly make his move and asked Keely out as soon as he got back to his dorm. According to Keely, it was a Dream Date. Davnus went back to his dorm with a big grin on his face and talked his sister, Trisha's ear off. Trisha smiled and nodded but decided to prepare herself for meeting the 'girlfriend'.

Keely also managed to achieve her LTW before Junior year and has now become a Family sim who's new LTW is to become Captain Hero. Well technically, Truth has no police officers so this can be a step in the right direction.

Growing Old Together

Brian has finally become an elder, and what a happy elder he is. He transitioned in Platinum and on his next shift at work, he became the General he always wanted to be. Both he and Stevie are spending some much needed quality time together (especially if she wants to reach her LTW of 50 Dream Dates before her passing. I think once they have enough money to be comfortable, they will both be retiring. Another nice bonus, Brian brought home $55,000 for saving his country. It went immediately to the house which is starting to look much better. The front porch actually exists WITH a Door but there are no pictures yet to show proof of this "miracle". But here are Stevie and Brian after his transition:

I might as well also show a picture of what Brian used to look like (I finally remembered to take a decent picture just before he transitioned:
Pretty good looking considering he's a townie and not a custom made one either.

Drucilla's mind is on settling down with her one and only Jace A- (just look in one of the posts for his last name because it is way too hard and complicated to remember). He's in love...she's in love...they're in love...and it makes everyone else nauteous. But I think I've finally decided that she'll be the heir to the Legacy but Keely will move in with her right after graduation from Truth (and then move out when she's ready).

Keely decided to commemorate her parents being together so long by painting them a lovely portrait. Please remember, she gave up her valuable skilling time to do this. She's trying to Max all her skills before Junior Year at Truth University, so she can get her Perma-Plat status early and then change her Aspiration to something else.

Also wanted to show off a cute icon I made (more like cropped and added text):

Love is in the Air (at least in Truth)

Enter Jace Ajjanagadde. The paperboy that Drucilla has been talking to online. She never made the connection that the boy who delievers the newspaper and the Jace she talks to online were one in the same. And she really likes him. She even got dressed up (mostly took off that ridiculous winter hat, let her hair down and changed her make-up a bit) and invited him over. They had a wonderful time....playing Chess [eyes rolling right now] So romantic aren't they? They even managed to have 2 lightening bolts of attraction (like her parents)
Dru was kind of embarassed though due to her parents making-out like they were teenagers. But she managed to distract Jace by asking him on a date. He shyly said yes and then revealed he was a knowledge sim with great hopes of going off to Truth University as well. Suddenly Dru was thinking maybe she should be looking into University as well.

Keely already had 2 scholarships (Cooking and Creativity) under her belt and was working on her 3 (Logic). Keely decided to put off loking for a boyfriend until her University plans were well taken care of. She was happy she didn't have flighty, romantic notions flying around in her head yet unlike her sister Dru.

Stevie's having fun in her elderhood. She transitioned in Platinum but still has a while to go before she becomes perma-plat so many, many, many more spectacular dates for her.
Brian is on his way to elderhood. He only has 2 more days before he transitions but soon he'll also be a General and be perma-plat as well.

Beauty was surely dealt sparingly

I love my Legacy family, I really do but what the heck happened to the genetics being passed down? I'm only on the 2nd generation and I'm really going to have pray that by the 10th generation, they'll look somewhat passable. Stevie and Brian's twins are now teens have a look at what I mean. The first one is Drucilla...and the 2nd is Keely-Ann.

Keely's would be perfectly if her chin did not rival Jay Leno. It may pass okay on a guy but on a girl, it really doesn't look right. Dru's problem seems to be so extensive that I'm almost tempted to giver her reconstructive surgery but I really don't want to do that. I think I may try getting her a husband with a slim face and hope for best. It's hard trying to make her look normal. The hair goes through her cheeks and any sort of color that you place on her lips makes them look even bigger. Le sigh...I'll just have to see how their genetics play in the future.

On the other hand, they are great as kids. They learned everything they needed to as toddlers and managed to get 6 skill points by the time they became children. Keely maxed her creative skills and the money she's raking in her paintings rivals her dad. She became a knowledge sim when she became a teen with the LTW to max all skills...this should be easy! Drucilla on the other hand is a social butterfly who loves to cook and clean. I guess it was a good thing when she became a family sim as a teen. Her LTW is to graduate 3 kids from University. If she becomes the heir (the thought is still up in the air), I'm really hoping she has a boy because maybe her features will look much better on a boy.

Stevie became an elder. She constantly complains about backpain, has the bladder the size of a pea and sleeps at the oddest times. She keeps burning pancakes too. The firefighter seems to make regular visits to the house. She still working but because she doesn't really have a LTW that deals with a career, I may make her retire as soon as Brian gets his LTW. I think he has 2 more levels to go and then he should die as a happy man!

The house is growing beautifully and yes it still looks rough but I'm seeing more of what I want in it:

It's probably going to end up looking very modern (mostly due to the fact that I suck at making roofs that look normal. I just started building the 2nd floor which is currently exposed to the elements. The steps leading to the front door finally exist! Too bad the front door still is non-exitant but everyone goes through the garage so for now it's all good. Finally got a new car for the family so Stevie can now drive to work as well as Brian. The twins still have to use public trasportation. The kitchen has been moved and is nice and once I get this full screen picture taking down, along with better lighting, I will start showing more pictures of the interiors. But it will take time (although this week it seemed I had nothing but time but that's another issue).
So on a final note for the nite, the family grows, the house grows, money is coming in well and I'm still debating whether or not to send the teens to University. And the neighbourhood is looking fuller all the time. Can't wait to see how Truth will be in a month.

Argh!

I have been having some serious issues with my mouse. Since I got it with the computer, it's been doing little annoying things like making the pointer jump across the screen. I've had this computer for about 3 years now and other than the hard drive crash from last year, there has been major issues. (By the way, that hard drive crash was completely my fault...didn't have patience, kicked the tower which continued to work but sounded like an asmathic who desperately needs their puffer and then the hard drive finally crashed on me). Now the mouse has decided that it will just turn itself off randomly when playing the sims...I DIDN"T EVEN KNOW A MOUSE COULD TURN OFF!! It doesn't have issues with any other program, just the sims. The little optical light at the bottom will turn off. I try plugging the mouse into a different USB. I'm telling you, it's laughing at me, saying 'Yeah, like I'm going to work if you plug me into a different port'. I even do the whole Gameboy/Game blow thing (like it even has a chance to collect dust with the amount of times I've had to replug it in.

So next on my shopping list...a new mouse that isn't so annoying :(

Very slight population growth in Truth

I thought I'd share my new neighbourhood screen for Truth so here it is:

The neighbourhood is really starting to grow. I have 4 households in Truth and a lot of up and comming students at Truth University. Almost all of them are residing in the dormitories (Brixham Dorms from ModTheSims2 by Starrling - link to the right).

Damien Ross and Venket Schlehl share a dorm together along with a guy who looks just like Benjamin Long (uni townie). Venket (who will now forever be known as Ven) is an exchange student from....no one really knows where he's from. Damien is trying hard to take Ven under his wings but some of Ven's nerdish tendencies still manage to sneak through. At least Damien had a good laugh when pick one of their old dorm-mates, Felicia Goodman. Damien is still trying to figure if Felicia really wanted to join Kenisa Sorority so early, or if Ven scared her away and it was affordable housing. Damien has decided that the university is missing something very vital, a fraternity. Damien, along with Ven decided that they are going to start one up before they graduate (Ven is currently meeting more people around the University, trying to drum up support...and it can also help with his social skills).

Dalhousie (brother) and Moorehouse (sister) Moore just arrived to Truth University as well. Their parents were very big fans of Black American Universities...which wouldn't be so bad if Moorehouse (who is a girl) didn't have the last name Moore. She hated her name for the longest time and as soon as she saw the spot on the application that asked what name she would prefer to be called, Moorehouse simply put in Em. Em met Angelica Umgabi who quickly tried to hit on Dalhousie...well she bombed...Em shook her head and wondered if this was how her whole Univeristy career was going to be.

Trisha and Davnus Hamilton managed to find a dormitory without anyone in it yet. All that's known about them is that they want money and more of it.

Currently running Kenisa as of this moment are Breanna Nott (a secret society member) and Sandy Andrews (ex-cheerleader). They suffered a mild set-back when Lisa and Kendra graduated, but they are on their way to building the Kenisa Sorority back to it's former glory. They have already aquired a new member, Felicia Goodman and are working on getting more from the new students at Truth University.

The Legacy and Uncle Hayden

I decided to start a Legacy Family in Truth. Made a somewhat attractive (but not too distinctive) sim named Stevie Vane (pictured below):
Yes, Stevie is a girl. I set her up in a huge 5x5 lot, and set her to live on $4,800 and this is what she had by the end of the first day:
It wasn't much but it was all hers. The neighbourhood seemed pretty decent (if not a bit scanty) but that didn't bother her much...less of a chance of crime or so she thought. She got robbed 4 days after moving into her new place. Stevie got herself a good job as a security guard and has already managed to get herself promoted to Detective (quite good on $4,800). Stevie was starting to feel lonley and the only men who seemed to come by her house was a Hayden Bruty (unfortunetly for Stevie, there was a wedding ring on his finger and the wallet full of baby pictures of Meshell) and this creepy old man named Garret Cho..

Stevie decided she needed some professional help and called this gypsy matchmaker from the phone book. It was quite a quick and painless experience: answer a question, pay a good chunk of money and hope your frog prince is the one. Stevie was skeptical but decided to give this...Brian Seaver guy a chance. And boy was Stevie glad she did. Their first date was a lot of fun. Stevie was quite surprised to find a single rose sitting on her make-shift doorstep the next morning. As much as Stevie wanted to believe that her dream man had come true, she decided to have Brian checked out by Hayden (and because Garret still freaked her out and she wasn't going to encourage and further contact with him). Hayden came back and told Stevie that Brian was a good guy. He had gone to Truth University with Lisa and Kendra and was actually one of their dorm-mates until they started Kenisa Sorority.

The dating process was going quite well, and soon Stevie had moved Brian in and apparently he was one heck of a saver. He brought in $15,000. Stevie wanted to start redecorating immediately but Brian gave her a small peck on the cheek and said it was for their real house. Stevie frowned but trusted him more with the money than herself. Brian became a recruit. At first it was because the money was good but as he worked more and started to get promoted, he really wanted to eventually because the General. Not too long after, they had saved up enough money to really start building their place. They still didn't start to immediately build the house. Stevie soon found herself engaged to Brian and pregnant however with the over working and the danger of her job, Stevie lost the baby and was distraught for quite sometime. Brian and Stevie eventually married and almost immediately, she became pregnant again. Stevie took to meditating to help keep her body calm and Brian, more worried about his wife than himself, took over the house completely and began to work on their new home. By the time the twins (yes the twins) were born, the house still wasn't finished but the start was definetly there:
Stevie gave birth to fraternal twin girls, named Drucilla and Keely-Ann. And guess who became their god-father? You guessed it! Hayden. Man he loves family!

Hayden is a Proud Papa

Hayden has finally found a reason to stay home more often. Lisa gave birth to their daughter Meshell Bruty:
Unfortunetly, with the new baby, comes Garret Cho...the father of Kendra's baby. He's over everyday, he doesn't help, just sits there and reads the families books...Hayden's little sister (Melissa who's actually a townie with the same last name that I've moved into the house) can't stand him. Everywhere she turns, he's there and I think he's kinda creeping her out.

Anyways, back to the baby. Meshell has her mom's eyes and skintone (Hayden must have some skin condition because his face and neck are a totally different complexion than the rest of his body) and she's as cut as a button. Hayden's sister Melissa tries to help out too but she still pays more attention to her job and her education. Lisa and Kendra are already planning ways to marry Tyrone and Meshell. All Hayden and Meshell keep muttering is "Please let Tyrone not grow up to be as creepy as his father".

Truth is Moving on

Lisa and Kendra graduated with a lovely GPA of 3.9 each. Lisa lost the 4.0 when she had a miscarriage. The day before her exam...not exactly the best mindset. It was hard just getting her happy enough to finish writing her Term Paper. Kendra actually managed to write a part of a term paper...she had run out of time, boyfriends and pledges right before her final term paper was to be written.

Kendra's last few days were fun to say the least. She managed to WooHoo 2 students from a dorm (before they moved to Kenisa Sorority), 2 Professors (both for grades and less of a chance of her actually writing a term paper), a cow and llama mascot and the cafeteria worker who should be croaking any day now. I was shocked when I heard the musical bells just before graduation after she finished WooHooing with the cafeteria worker. So by the time she finished at Truth University, she had her diploma, became the "Big Woman On Campus", boosted Kenisa Sor to the number 1 position (so that they could have an unlimited number of members), she was also half way to her LTW and a baby on the way. Not too long after she moved into her own house in Truth, she got a job as a Character Artist and had little Tyrone. Moved in Garrett the cafeteria worker (but he only came with 1000 simoleons)

Lisa graduted, still working on becoming top of the medical field. She got pregnant right after Kendra (maybe this will be an ongoing sorority thing...graduate with honours and as a member of Kenisa Sorority, you'll be given a child upon graduation :D) Lisa was extra careful with this pregnancy. She moved into a house, not too far from Kendra's place, but a bit bigger and then quickly invited her boyfriend Hayden to move in with her and as soon as that happend, he popped the question, she said yes and he came with 12,000 simoleons (cha-ching!). She hasn't had the baby yet but Hayden's already showing the longing to be a father. He's at Kendra's house everyday, just to play with Tyrone. He doesn't really say anything to Kendra. He just feeds Tyrone, plays with him and cleans up after him...it's endearing really but kinda odd when he comes over uninvited and acts like he has the right to do it. Kendra just lets him be and catches a nap in the mean time.

I think I had a mini breakdown today

I am not a drama queen (just thought I'd say that right off the bat).

Apparently I'm going through something very emotional that actually may stem from my parents divorce from over 14 years ago...or I'm over analyzing that part. I cried enough to give myself a head-ache. That only happens when I'm angry with my father and doesn't really happen as much as it used to. The thing that's different now is that I just want to talk to my mom but with the way things are now, it's not easy. We barely get a chance to see each other and when we are in the same house, one or the other is sleeping, if not both. I'm just hoping that after I talk to her, things will start to make a lot more sense or at least I'll have someone to unburden myself too. 'Cause if I don't get that soon, I'm going to spend way too much of my time crying, then getting a headache and then everything will just seem to compound and get worse.

Here's hoping that things will get better sooner.

Trying something new

After seeing the movie "Stomp The Yard", I decided to do something new to my sims game. I created an African American neighbourhood and because I lack imagination at the worst of times, I decided to call the neighbourhood "Truth"...yes, just like the name of the college in the movie.

After deciding this, I realized a major problem...if I wanted a quintessential "black" neighbourhood, how in the world would I get the townies and NPC to be...well....black? After searching and then complaining that it would be too hard, I found a tutorial for SimPe with a quick and dirty way of getting the default skins of the sims to be more suited for my purpose. Okay, so one problem taken care of.

I didn't want to force the rest of my existing sims to be changed so that they would have to be Black so I created a new login on my computer so that they would never interfere with each other. After cleaning my downloads folder somewhat, I decided to keep only part of my major hair collection (I do adore the hairs for sims), that would work with the image that I wanted. I found many shades of browns, hazels, a couple greens and grey eyes and genticized them so that they could be randomly given out to the townies in my neighbourhood, and I could get a bit more variety. I also genticized the skintones that I had left in my game which range from the common medium to dark skintones. I will be adding lighter skintones for a bit more flavor later on, once the neighbourhood is more established.

As for the town itself, it's starting to look pretty nice. I got my residential and community lots (only 2x2, 3x2, 1x3, 3x1... yada yada yada...the operative word is tiny) lined up and ready to go. Most of the ones there are starter house. I have one 5x5 lot which will be for a psuedo Legacy family when I have them ready to move in. I got my lighthouse, waterfalls and all the rest for effect. I even made a custom university called...yes you guessed it, Truth University. Not many students there as of yet but I do think that's where I'll try to get many of my CAS sims to start off. I decided against putting in a Downtownie, mostly because I don't want to deal with the Vampires and Mrs. Crumbleton ruinning my outing. If I could get rid of the strays and warewolves from the Pets expansion, everything would be just about perfect but no one has come up with anything for that as far as I know.

I don't have many pictures as of yet but I'll show the few I do have:

My main couple, Hayden and Lisa. Hayden is actually the bartender from local Truth University Bar. Lisa is a sim I created who decided, as a knowledge sim, she wants to be a doctor. It was quite interesting how they met. I sent her there to catch up with her roomate, Kendra (who was slightly ahead for her Freshman Year). I decided that I was going to have Lisa earn some extra money and tend bar...I nearly grinned when I saw Hayden standing behind the bar. All I was thinking was possiblities, maybe they could hit it off...there was only one snag...the person who built this lot, made it impossible for the bartender to leave his position and it was the same problem the DJ stand. Lisa looked at him, and was definetly interested despite his bad hair at the time. Hayden gave her a couple looks too and seemed happy with what he saw...and then he flayed his arms wildly complaining that he couldn't get out and then she started to complain that she couldn't get in and then they couldn't talk because the bar was in the way....I quickly took note of his last name and went back to the dorm (Parks Dorm - named after Rosa Parks...they are a conscentious black college) and bought a teleporting shrub and teleported him over...they hit it off and he's a family sim (I was so hoping that he wasn't a romance sim because then he would be demoted to a 'baby daddy').

I don't have all that clear of a shot of Lisa's roomate, Kendra...she has only one ambition...and that's to have as much WooHoo as possible with as many people as possible. And she does her best not to actually have to do any work. She's currently in her Junior Year and hasn't once written a term paper, she either bribed her current "boyfriend", got a bit friendly with the male professor or more recently, made new pledgers of Kenisa Sorority do it as a part of their initiation. Kendra is not completly lax in morals...she won't go after Lisa's boyfriend, Hayden...but it also helps that she finds him very unattractive.

Didn't realize it would take so much

I didn't realize it could take so much work just to come up with a functioning blog...I'm not even certain if it's actually function the way I want it to yet. But it can't hurt to start now.

I play the sims...A LOT. So maybe this blog will be dedicated to them, music and rants I guess. We'll see how this goes. I invite you now to share my world and see if you want to stay awhile.
